With the Democrats poised to re-take Congress this fall, almost on cue we are beginning to see news stories that tell us we need more gun control. According to the mainstream press, we are seeing more murders and violence because federal programs that “protected” us have been cut back by the “libertarian” Bush Administration. (Yes, remember when Molly Ivins was complaining that the Bushies were “libertarians”? Only a leftist like Ivins could believe that nonsense.)

Anyway, I predict that gun control legislation will be back in vogue soon enough. One thing about American politicians and journalists — they are depressingly predictable.
