Fun ‘n Games

8large.jpg Writes Franklin M. Johnson: “Lew, I don’t know if you play or enjoy computer games, but I thought you should see this. It’s an online game created by Hesco Bastions, which makes impromptu barriers for the military.

“Basically, they’re using this game to ‘demonstrate’ the benefits of their product. Try playing it so you can go through the three levels and read their over-the-top descriptions of the terrorists etc. At the end of each round, you’ll have an idea of what Fallujah looked like when we got through with it.

“They’ve made it fast and simple to play and easy to do well, which keeps you coming back for more. But if you do poorly in the last round — where the bad guys have RPGs and truck bombs — you’ll just end up adding to the OIF body count.

“Very clever marketing. Very sad message.”
