What with this kind of thing, with robots, with surveillance everywhere, with people spying on one another, with searches everywhere, with police-military weapons and cooperation, and with the ways that police and armed forces are personally armed and clothed these days, we are increasingly faced with a very serious and dangerous imbalance of power between the general populace and armed forces that are not under our control but under the control of governments. Movies like The Terminator and Robocop are getting closer to reality, but the reality is actually more scary. The risks of these trends being turned against us even more than at present are huge since they already are being turned against us with the passive approval of large segments of the population intent on suppressing drugs or other activities.
