Conservative Senator Sam Brownback, addressing the GOP convention, praised Bush for spending more of other people’s money on welfare programs at home and abroad. Brownback actually said these programs “serve the creator.”

I always thought we served our creator by using our own resources to help the less fortunate, not by useing the power of the state to force people to support worthy causes. I guess I am just not a “compassionate conservative.”
