This morning, a none-too-swift newscaster on the Fox News channel interviewed a woman whose nephew was killed in battle on the same day that Michael Jackson died. She was upset that Jackson’s death evoked endless news media attention, while her nephew’s death was not even reported. The newscaster asked the aunt if she had had any response to this from lawmakers! To her credit, the woman looked about as stunned at the stupidity of the question as I felt. I suspect that this Fox News reader spends much of his spare time wondering why the mainstream media is losing both subscribers and viewers.
