Ernest Borgnine, RIP

Actor Ernest Borgnine has passed away at the ripe old age of 95. Best known to Baby Boomers as ‘McHale’ in the hit 1960s TV series McHale’s Navy, Borgnine first made a name for himself on the big screen playing the sadistic sergeant of the guard in the classic film From Here to Eternity in 1953. Two years later, he would win the Academy Award for Best Actor for his sensitive performance as the lead character in the film Marty. He also had memorable co-starring roles in Bad Day at Black Rock, The Wild Bunch, and Willard—to name just a few of the many other films he appeared in during his long life.
