Energy Socialism

Yesterday the “conservative” Congress passed a big government energy bill which furthers state control of the energy market and imposes new regulations on the private sector, including federal standards for vending machines and fluorescent lamps. The bill also spends your money to develop energy efficient school buses, and bicycles powered by alternative fuels. Perhaps my favorite part of the bill is the $2 billion for a government-industry partnership to develop hydrogen cars, because it reminds me of when George W played Mr. Science in the State of the Union:

“A single chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen generates energy, which can be used to power a car — producing only water, not exhaust fumes. With a new national commitment, our scientists and engineers will overcome obstacles to taking these cars from laboratory to showroom, so that the first car driven by a child born today could be powered by hydrogen, and pollution-free.”

And some people question his intelligence….

Remember when the GOP opposed national energy policy and Hillarycare?
