Electric Shock Treatment, Anyone?

Real conservatives do anything from rolling their eyes to laughing hysterically whenever they hear, “We’re from the government and we’re here to help you.” And they used to cheer Ronald Reagan whenever he said “Government is the problem, not the solution.”

The former line, however, is exactly what Dub-Yuh said today in his Saturday address, speaking exclusively to the Virginia Tech Gun-Free University tragedy.

He went on and on about how we need to learn more about the “mental health” of all students — primary, secondary, and higher education. And, he said, “the federal government will help.” Yeah, perhaps by implementing the Republican Party’s plan, announced several years ago, for mandatory “mental health screening” of all students.

Real conservatives would also recognize this as eerily similar to how things were run in the former Soviet Union and all other totalitarian states. But you can bet your life that the mindless media lapdogs of the GOP — Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. — will be faithfully promoting this latest neocon (with the emphasis on the “con”) totalitarian gambit.
