Economic Ignorance

John McCain – who boasts that he doesn’t understand economics – proved his point yesterday in responding to the bailout question with the line “inaction is not an option.” If this man – who has spent his entire life feeding at the government trough – did understand economics, he would be aware that governmental inaction is the only solution to problems caused by years of governmental intervention in markets. But then, resolving problems through inaction is not a politically attractive stance. Establishment voices condemn “do-nothing Congresses” and presidents who are not “forceful leaders.” McCain is like an alcoholic who, having been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, pleads “sobriety is not an option.”
