The prosecution and attorneys in the Duke Non-Rape, Non-Kidnapping, and Non-Sexual Assault case have announced a postponement of the February 5 hearings to rule on the motions by the defense. This farce has gone on for 10 months and the legal costs to the families have now passed $3 million.

While I can understand the need for the new prosecutors in the case to get caught up with the material, let me also say that even a casual observer knows that this is a farce. Instead, the State of North Carolina will continue to bleed people dry. This is a disgrace, and is one more reason why I have absolutely no confidence in government justice. Let’s face it, “government justice” is an oxymoron.
