Duke charges to be dropped soon?

Inside Lacrosse Magazine is reporting that the prosecution in the Duke Non-Rape, Non-Kidnapping, Non-Sexual Assault case is preparing to drop charges against Reade Seligmann, Collin Finnerty, and David Evans. The three former Duke lacrosse players were indicted last spring after Durham County DA Michael B. Nifong carried on a campaign against them.

In his campaign to demonize the lacrosse players, Nifong withheld evidence and broke a number of codes of conduct set by the North Carolina State Bar, which has charged him with more than 200 violations. His trial is set for June 12 and could result in his disbarment.

By the way, when the charges are dropped, many of you will read that this was a “botched” investigation. That is not true. Nothing was “botched.” Instead, it was a false accusation, from bottom to top. Literally none of the charges were true, and as lawyers and others continue to investigate what happened, we will see that this was a massive criminal conspiracy on behalf of Nifong and the Durham police. One can only hope that they will someday have to meet the bar of justice.
