Don’t mess with traders

In regards to Gil Guillory’s post I can attest that traders and floor brokers can make up a tough lot. Anyone who has spent enough time in the trading world of the capital markets (particularly futures) knows just how competitive and intense life can be. In an instant, a trader caught long or short could lose large amounts of money, possibly even a job or a reputation. The same of course cannot be said of public officials which was aptly revealed by a Greenpeace protester’s comments, “I took on a Texan Swat team at Esso last year and they were angels compared with this lot.” The reaction by IPE traders would have been the same if it were the NYMEX, CBOT, CME, SIMEX, KCBOT, or any other exchange. Whether it is the IPE or a black market in Iraq, the moral of the story for the united socialists of the world is don’t mess with traders.
