Fred Thompson’s entrance into the race, reported today, greatly helps Ron Paul. Specifically, it helps by further splitting the pro-war vote among ten with Ron the only antiwar voice.

More generally, by splitting the overall vote in more ways, he makes it easier for Ron to win delegates in winner-take-all scenarios.

It’s hard to see where he cuts into Ron’s key constituencies: populists, anti-war, anti-Fed, anti-pork, anti-drug war, etc.
