Dr. Oz, the “esteemed” surgeon, has once again sold his reputation – what is left of it – down the river. He is indeed desperate for ratings.¬†Huffington Post¬†notes the following:

“Like the sexual kind of pornography, food porn whets your appetite in ways you have never imagined, allowing you to lust after the orgasm of the perfect bite.” Could you listen to someone say that without throwing up? Neither could we. But thanks toDr. Oz’s food porn segment, we had to try.

On a recent show, Dr. Oz stated that people eat good foods because “they seek an orgasmic response.” Additionally, he presents people who get fat as “victims” of food porn.

Joe Bastianich, a chef and one of three guests on the show, retained his composure and smashed back at Oz. He noted that food represents American bounty, regionalism, and the celebration of food culture, which is why he questions how beautiful food photographs can become equated with … pornography? ¬†Bastianich properly notes how our twisted American culture celebrates competitive eating (contests), excessive eating, 8,000 calorie dishes, fried Snicker bars, and other strange non-food foods, etc., and this is strangely propped up as defining American food culture.
