This morning on Faux News they ran a scene of a TEA Party rally, and then flashed a full-screen headshot of Newt Gingrich. Then another TEA Party rally scene, followed by a full-screen headshot of GOP Chairman Michael Steele.
I guess the message the Faux News Channel wants to convey is that the TEA Partiers are protesting that there’s not enough military interventionism in the world; we haven’t nuked Iran yet; we need a bigger pharmaceutical welfare state; there’s too much talk about leaving Afghanistan (“the graveyard of empires”); they want less personal freedom and more warrantless wiretapping; more suspensions of Habeas Corpus; more taxes; more bailouts of Wall Street plutocrats; and bigger government and less freedom in general. You know, the political program of Gingrich, Steele, and the Republican Party the last time they were in power.
