Digital TV Conversion Emergency!!!

Who didn’t see this coming? The digital TV conversion, imposed by act of Congress, will “[disproportionately affect] lower-income people and the elderly.”

I’ve always thought this digital TV conversion thing was curious, but have never bothered to find out what the public and actual motives for it are. However, I always knew that it would not be good for people who don’t have flexible incomes. But Congress just figured this out 2 months before the conversion (which was years in coming)?

Also, this whole thing stinks of a “right to free TV.” Does anyone really believe this?

And, in case you’re not already seeing this one coming: federal subsidies for digital upgrades “will create jobs,” so it should be part of an “economic stimulus.” If you believe this baloney, read Hazlitt’s Economics in One Lesson.
