Death Penalty Nonsense

Jared Loughner has pleaded guilty to killing six people and wounding former representative Gabrielle Giffords and a dozen others in his 2011 shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona. In exchange for his guilty plea, the federal government will not seek the death penalty in a murder trial.

This is nonsense. There are people on death row in places like Texas where there is still some doubt about their guilt or mental capacity. Yet, they are on track to be executed while a man who murders six people in public in front of a hundred witnesses is spared.
