The iconic officer in the cowboy hat, Jim Leavelle, the Dallas, Texas homicide detective who was escorting Lee Harvey Oswald through the basement of Dallas Police headquarters when Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby, was honored today by the Dallas Police Department.
