Neocon lawyer Bruce Fein suggests adopting Tony Blair’s policy of “outlawing speech condoning or glorifying terrorism.” Fein wants the US government to ban pro-terrorist speech both here and abroad. Fein does not specify how he would enforce this law against non-Americans, perhaps Bolton can set up an international speech police at the UN. Fein also does not address how “condoning or glorifying” would be defined, would Fein support outlawing speech criticizing US Mid East policy because terrorists criticize US Mid East policy, thus criticizing US policy is “condoning terrorists?” What about pro-lifers who agree with abortion clinic bombers (e.g. “domestic terrorists”) that abortion is murder?
