Coulter Slimes the Anti-State Wave

“Once again, the people have spoken, and this time they quoted what Dick Cheney said to Pat Leahy.”

Why does Coulter allege that Americans who are fed up with Big Government are foul-mouthed cretins?

Coulter is so smart, she’s dumb. She waltzes right into the arms of Obama’s snobbery and resonates it. Obama, of course, won’t admit that freedom-loving Americans oppose the state on rational, constitutional, and historical grounds. Instead, Americans who supported Scott Brown are “frustrated” and “angry” — for the Obama Elite, lovers of liberty are all motivated by ugly, irrational, and ignorant passions. Coulter goes even further, branding the enemies of the state as a vulgar, foul-mouthed mob.

Both Coulter and Obama dismiss any possibility of intelligence and common sense on the part of the electorate. They deny, en passant, the very possibility that voters might have exercised the civic virtue, goodwill, and love of the common good — freedom — embodied in the Federalist. They imply that the sheep are just bleating. Obama probably thinks it’s a slick, sly put-down. Evidently, Coulter just thinks it’s funny.
