This conservative columnist seems to be trying to justify a draft by suggesting that young people have a moral obligation to set aside their own hopes and dreams, and abandon their families, jobs, and communities, in order to serve the empire. After all we are at WAR!

She even has the nerve to invoke Thomas Paine in support for giving one’s life over to the state! Of course, Paine was calling on patriots to fight for their liberty, not to give their lives for their leaders dreams of empire.

This conservative thinks Al Gore, and others critics of the president are committing hate speech, and possibly treason. While he doesn’t come right out and say so, the logical implication is that Gore, Dean, and everyone associated with moveon.org should be imprisoned. After all, we are at WAR!
