Compassionate Conservatism in action

In his speech before the Urban League, Bush announced a new initiative to use taxpayer dollars to promote “minority” business because “… somebody said, I need some help. They’ve come to the federal government. They said, I’ve got an idea, I want to start my own business, I want to say, I’m the owner. And the government says, we want to help you. It’s a legitimate role to encourage ownership. What I’m telling you is, the role of government is to create an environment where people from all walks of life have a chance to realize their dream.”

Yes, the proper role of government is to redistribute money to those who cannot obtain capital in the market. Bush also promoted his expansion of housing socialism and his expansion of the monstrous Department of Education. Meanwhile, the RNC has put out talking points blasting Kerry for once voting to end sugar price supports and supporting cuts in the Agriculture Department’s budget.

Yet GOP hacks will still have the gall to spend the remaining months before the election telling us we have to support Bush because Kerry believes in big government….
