Commie News Network’s Refrain

Watching CNN after the horrible crash over the Hudson between a helicopter and a small plane — in which nine people died — the anchor had one point foremost in her mind: government rescue efforts were immediate and massive. She asked each eyewitness to repeat after her on this point. Was the government timely and competent? Undoubtedly not, but it’s interesting that the credit that private boat owners and crew got after the heroic jet landing in the river must have galled the state and its media so that this propaganda is now automatic.

UPDATE from Brandon Harnish:

I’ve noticed the disgusting fawning over so-called “first responders” as well. A few weeks ago, Fox News was covering a police chase through Texas and Sheppard Smith at any moment was either (1) describing the scene or (2) praising the efforts of the “police heroes who risk their lives to protect and serve and never know if they’re coming home at night.” It was his default mode whenever there was nothing else to say. And that, of course, isn’t reporting. It’s commentating. It’s picking sides. It’s being a cheerleader. The mainstream media talks about government like Patriots fans talk about Tom Brady or Colts fans talk about Peyton Manning.
