Collateral Damage

Partially inspired by my lecture, “Christianity and War,” Mark Peterson wrote this song for his band, with music forthcoming by Calamity Howlers.

Killing and maiming of the innocent
The price that has to be paid
Because they aren’t of your descent
Their suffering is here to stay

Collateral DamageSit home in your security
Your sons will do the deed
Killing in the name of prosperity
Their screams you will not heed

Collateral Damage

The military is always praised
Its dirty deeds ignored
But soldiers killing the innocent
This voluntary evil must be deplored

Collateral Damage

To follow orders – the responsibility is yours
Their blood is on your hands
Unjust murder for the State
On judgement day will not stand

Collateral Damage

Next it will be you where suffering comes
But you didn’t heed the signs
Your rights don’t fit the empires plans
They will ignore your screams and cries

Collateral Damage

Now against us our army is deployed
Whose orders will they obey
Their conscience appeased by the media’s con
The propaganda machine rolls on

Collateral Damage

Now it’s you – your family is dead
Your home a burning waste
But you didn’t care when others suffered
You turned away in haste

Collateral Damage
