Collateral Damage

Writes James J. Pizzadili:

Kip Lynch, a recently discharged Army soldier, was today sentenced to 80 years prison time for killing his 19 year old wife and 8 month old daughter. The deaths occurred two months after he returned from a “hellacious” year in Afghanistan. Lynch only went on trial by surviving shooting himself in the head. His murder trial and sentencing hearings offered a glimpse of the empire’s foreign policy: daily combat for months at a stretch, multiple suicide attempts within a 100 man unit, killing civilians (including children), soldiers going bald or turning gray-haired, and many others kicked out of the Army for substance abuse and emotional problems. Somehow the prosecutor was able to sell the idea that since Lynch took time to plan the act, he could not be suffering from PTSD. Of course, in the end the regime gets what it wanted, a “criminal” put behind bars for a long stretch, with the quick dismissal of any responsibility borne by the liars, war-mongers, and yes-men who sent the USA into Afghanistan and who have kept the war going for 10 long, bloody, and very profitable years.
