According to NPR (Jan 22, 2004), here is what Wesley Clarke told the students at the University of New Hampshire, an attempt to loosen them up: “We’re looking for a few good people in the Armed Forces, and I’ll ask the professors here if you’ll just send me your class rosters, I’ll make sure an Army recruiter contacts each one of you personally.”
The NPR reporter comments: “There’s not even a chuckle from the draft-age audience.”
