According to the Navy Times, China is seeking to build an overseas naval base. Why should this even raise an eyebrow? The U.S. has hundreds of overseas bases and has troops in almost 150 countries. China might as well build the base in the U.S. That way it would be cheaper for the USG to spy on it. Why is it that conservatives would scream bloody murder if China even suggested that it wanted a base on U.S. soil, but have no objection to the U.S. military having bases all over the planet? This is American exceptionalism at its worse.
