The Pentagram wants middle-school ROTC. (Thanks to Brad Funkhouser)

UPDATE from Mark Janness:

As a Viet Nam era veteran who had the had the opportunity to go to West Point (didn’t take it), I have to ask, “And, the Army is not putting them at risk?”

“We want to reach students at that age before they make decisions that put them at risk,” said Vanderbleek, who came to Wichita recently from Fort Monroe, Va., to see the Kansas program for himself.

What a dumb statement.

I’d rather take my chances on the big city streets than in the seemly endless wars the state has planned for us.

UPDATE from Roger Young:

The Ft Worth, TX, ISD already has ROTC in their middle schools – it’s called Junior Cadet Corps. At least one of them is run by the Navy.
