A friend sent me this scene from the NYC subway the other night. This worship is disturbing – it is worship of a man who is no different from the politician leaving office or the politician he defeated, except in very minimal ways. To be happy that Bush is gone is one thing. To be thrilled that the voters rejected McCain also deserves merit. But to be moved to song in praise of a man who advocates theft and murder is, well, disturbing. I wonder how long the euphoria will last – if we are lucky, this bubble will quickly burst.
