Calling All LRC’ers in Brazil

The benefactor-intellectual–in the mold of a Larry Fertig or Burt Blumert–is essential to the growth of the Austrian School and the freedom movement. Brazil has such a man in entrepreneur Helio Beltrão, founder of the Mises Institute Brazil. It is exciting that the Institute is sponsoring the first conference on Austrian economics in the history of that country, in Porto Alegre on April 11-12, 2010, at the Sheraton Hotel, Porto Alegre. Among the speakers are Joe Salerno, Mark Thornton Tom Woods, Antony Mueller, Ubiratan Iorio, Rodrigo Constantino, and Fabio Barbieri. David Friedman and Patri Friedman will be there too, as will I. There will be instantaneous Portuguese-English and English-Portuguese translation. Two hundred young professionals and students have already signed up. And at the 23rd annual meeting of the allied Liberty Forum, thanks to Helio, 4,000 students will hear a program based on Mises’s Economic Policy (called Six Lessons in Brazil).
