CAFTA equals Empire

This week the GOP House leadership and the White House will twist arms and do all they can to buy the votes to pass CAFTA. Opponents of CAFTA recognize that this agreement is about global government, ceding control over America’s economic policy to secretive “dispute resolution tribunals” (which cannot be counted on to rule in favor of free trade but can be counted on to rule in favor of large corporations), and the integration of the United States and South America into a trading block/superstate to counter the EU.

Now CAFTA’s proponents are admitting that CAFTA is not about giving the American people the benefits of free trade but about US “leadership” and using economic policy as a tool in the crusade for democracy.

Of course, the beltway libertarians love CAFTA.
