The Onion has really outdone itself with this one. Comparing the Bush presidency to a natural disaster, they say:
“Here’s what we know so far. The presidency started and hit America around 10am EST back on January 20, 2001. Now, so far that presidency has caused some 9 trillion dollars worth of debt. Its left thousands of people dead and, still, even this morning it continues to rage on.”
Of course, the Onion understates the case because you can only claim the low number of “thousands” of deaths if you ignore non-Americans. If Iraqi victims of this disaster are added, then the death toll is in the hundreds of thousands or more.
