See a short video of President George W. Bush denying, more than once, that Saddam had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks or, more dubiously, that anyone in his administration has suggested this.
A commenter on Digg points out a Zogby poll which found that 85% of US troops agreed that the US mission in Iraq is mainly “to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the 9-11 attacks.” He asks “That 85% should drop down to 0%, yes?”
