Bush and Olasky Going to Heaven; Kerry Going to Hell

If I’m reading this correctly, Olasky is claiming that he and Bush have their names written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (“Being born again, we don’t have to justify ourselves. Being saved, we don’t have to be saviors”) whereas Kerry is not born again but only “once-born” which means, in the Evangelical lexicon, that he is going to Hell. Moreover, Olasky says that the Catholic Kerry “does not believe that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Did he announce this at a press conference that I missed? A press release perhaps? Washington, D.C — “Not all have fallen short of the glory of God,” Presidential candidate John Kerry said today.

As to who we should vote for, hey, you gonna support the guy who is bound for the Promised Land or Mr. Damnation? People often talk about this or that “new low”–but it really does strike me as a new low in political commentary for a prominent conservative to announce that he knows both the mind of God and the heart of another such that he can predict their eternal destiny. If the opponents of predestinarianism were looking for a caricature, Olasky has provided it.

Finally, are we really safe if the man with his finger on the button is cock-sure that he will zip up to heaven the instant he dies no matter what else he does in this life? Hey, he doesn’t have to justify himself.
