I quote “Buffalo’s per-pupil spending, at $26,903, is the nation’s third-highest among large districts. It is also the highest in New York State, higher even than New York City, at No. 4 on the list, and Rochester, at No. 7.” The district has nothing to show for it. Why? The article mentions “the wretchedly destructive relationship between the district and the Buffalo Teachers Federation. Too frequently, the BTF is the tail that wags the dog of public education in Buffalo, virtually always to the detriment of student achievement.” The unions are running the schools and the taxpayers. Homeschool is not for everyone. What then? Separate schools from the state. Separate schools from the state. Does that mean take public education off the books? Yes, it does. Does that mean that no one should be forced to pay school taxes because they happen to live in a district? Yes, it does. Does that mean freedom to choose and pay for the schooling of one’s children (school freedom)? Yes, it does.
