Actually, the fact that Ron Paul is unopposed for reelection is breaking news only if you don’t read the LRC blog, where it was announced on January 17th.

Writes Pete Christensen: “Ha ha–love the new blog logo!

“By the way, it is refreshing to attend social functions and hear people discovering and talking about Ron Paul. I’m a contrarian, so it is natural for me to start a conversation with my Democrat friends by saying, ‘I’m voting republican this year.’ It immediately grabs their attention and I’ll get a look of shock. But when I go on to explain Ron Paul and his principles, people nod and many have even heard about him and leave wanting to learn more. The established media and party-mongers better start mentally preparing themselves for a Jesse Ventura-esque experience in November 2008.

“If ever there were a longshot to bet on at the race track, that horse’s name would be Ron Paul.

“There is a handicapping strategy that involves looking at the exacta bets for ‘”hidden’ horses who’s straight odds are poor, yet they are reflected in the exacta money being wagered. The hidden indicator in this election is going to be the internet. As a bettor, I wouldn’t hesitate one bit to put money down on Rep. Paul to take it based on the online tsunami of supporters.“Paul McCartney released a CD today. He opted to part with EMI on this project and sided with Starbucks Music so his songs can be fully downloadable. Here are his reasons in his own words (referring to EMI):

“‘They’re very confused, and they will admit it themselves: that this is a new world, and they’re a little bit at a loss as to what to do. So they’ve got millions of dollars and X budget…for them to come up with boring ways—because they’ve been at it for so long—to what they call “market” it. And I find that all a bit disturbing.’

“Here is a major record company with arguably the top artist in the world and a budget to match, and they can’t keep pace with technology and individuals! They have the resources but they don’t have the ability to adapt and survive.

“Sound familiar?”

I guess it’s breaking news to the MSM: “the number of laid-off workers continuing to claim unemployment insurance for the week ending Jan. 17 was a seasonally adjusted 4.78 million, the highest since records began in 1967.”
