Booming War Victims

Lew, let’s see if I understand this: the U.S. stops bombing Germany and Japan and their economies blossom; the U.S. stops engaging in war in Korea and the South Korean economy advances; the U.S. stops bombing the daylights out of Vietnam and its economy is now booming. One might almost suspect that the cessation of war has a beneficial effect on people’s lives.

Is this a variation on the joke we used to tell when we were little kids, about the guy who kept hitting himself in the head with a hammer because it felt so good when he stopped?
