Boob-Hustling Revisited

In response to my earlier blog on the boob-hustlers, a reader, Mark Higdon, linked me to a Newsweek article of April 28, 1975, titled “The Cooling World.” The article informs us:

“Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars worth of damage in thirteen U.S. states.

Trend: To scientists, these seemingly disparate incidents represent the advance signs of fundamental changes in the world’s weather. The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down.” (Emphasis added.)

The article went on to observe that “satellite photos indicated a sudden, large increase in Northern Hemisphere snow cover in the winter of 1971-72.”

And there you have it: whether it is “global cooling,” or “global warming,” or that even more empty phrase “climate change,” whatever atmospheric conditions exist provide fodder for those of a collectivist mindset to want to control all human action.  I suspect that, if the evidence emerged that the climate was at a standstill, this would lead Sen. Boxer and her people-pushing cronies to argue that we must have a federal “stimulus” program to get the climate moving again!
