Body Socialism: Voluntary Shooting Is “Reckless Endangerment”

To avoid work, a guy decides to have a friend shoot him in the shoulder. Stupid? Very likely; there are better ways to avoid work (ever heard of quitting, sir?). Is this a violation of rights? Absolutely not. The police, however, eager to make themselves relevant, have arrested the shooter for “reckless endangerment,” which in this case is a non-crime.

So let’s briefly look at this. When you voluntarily damage your body it’s a crime. When the police, however, damage your body against your will, it is not. This makes perfect sense.
