Blogging Science

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a non-profit research institution in NY, is concerned about bloggers and tweeters reporting on conference proceedings. They plan to have conference attendees agree to not post about the content of conferences without permission of the lab and presenter – the same agreement that is required for professional journalists. They’re within their rights to do this, but I’m not sure it’s a smart move. Other educational non-profits seem to encourage such activities in the name of spreading knowledge.
