Blankley Blanks Out

Pat Buchanan quotes Blankley: “If the United States and Europe act together as the West, in defense of our common values, we can undo the nightmare scenario of the Islamists and defeat this new threat of global tyranny that is every bit as dangerous as the Nazi threat that the Greatest Generation met and extinguished more than 50 years ago.”

Buchanan describes Blankley as “a writer deeply schooled in history.” But does Blankley not recall the German leader who, more than 70 years ago, was urging collective action in defense of Western values to defeat the alleged threat posed by another religion? Perhaps Blankley and Buchanan can reveal the name of this German leader to those of us who are not “deeply schooled in history.”
