Most people like the idea, but how would such a thing be enforced? After all, it’s already illegal to run a deficit, and has been since the 1980s. Besides, what is balanced? As Ron Paul has long pointed out, there is vast federal spending “off-budget.” It’s why the nationalist debt always goes up far more every year than the official deficit. I’d like to see the proposed text.
