Don’t take my word for it. Listen instead to a Vietnam combat veteran. He recently wrote me and remarked that after he came back from Vietnam:
It took me about 3 months in country to realize that the Vietnamese held the moral high ground and that I was nothing but a hired murderer (at very low pay). Now I am a repentant murderer. The important question for the American people is who hired me and is it possible to hire someone to murder for you and not be culpable.
Now, how are soldiers in Iraq any different from soldiers in Vietnam? I maintain that they are in many cases worse, since none of them were drafted. Yet, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the war, still, with few exceptions, none dare call it genocide.
