Apology to Glenn Greenwald

In a post a while back, I claimed that columnist Glenn Greenwald pretty much was like other “Progressives” who were civil libertarians when George W. Bush was president but now accept the same kind of conduct from the government now that Barack Obama is in the White House. After some gentle prodding by people, including Greenwald himself, I removed the post and apologized to him via email.

The latest flap over his column on the “hit job” by The Nation on the rebellion against the TSA and its porn scanners proves to me that Greenwald, indeed, is principled and is moved by something other than pure partisan politics. I’m always happy to see someone on the Left who acts on principles AND who supports civil liberties, because leftists for the most part are not much different than Neocons.
