Another State Failure

The state can’t raise successful monuments to itself anymore. The huge and ugly WWII memorial on the mall in DC is just the latest example, much to Mr. Krauthammer’s upset. He thinks it smuggles in states rights instead of hailing multiculturalism. There is also the awful FDR memorial, with Franklin’s cigarette holder and Eleanor’s fox collar — the only good things about them — banned on PC grounds. Then there is the OKC memorial of 161 desk chairs.

I don’t advocate war-glorifying memorials, a concept that blossomed in the evil Progressive Era, but if the feds ever wanted to build a monument to the real WWII, they can try a bronze mountain of 50 million skulls.
