Another Senseless Tragedy of the Afghan War

Joshua Lawrence got married on May 31, deployed to Afghanistan on June 7, and will be coming home in a body bag because he just got killed in the senseless war in Afghanistan. He had been in the Army for six years and considered it the “ideal profession.” Before going to Afghanistan to die, he served two tours in Korea. Korea? Hasn’t the Korean War been over since the 1950s? According to the CIA, the economy of South Korea is 34 times larger than the centrally-planned economy of North Korea. The South has twice the population of the North with a per capita GDP fifteen times greater. And we still have thousands of troops in Korea? This is madness. Joshua Lawrence got screwed. He joined a military that isn’t remotely focused on defending the United States. Yes, he joined of his own free will, but I still feel sorry for him and his young widow.
