The Pentagon is saying that more soldiers are dying overseas by committing suicide than from combat wounds. There were 349 recorded suicides last year, almost one a day. Returning vets are committing suicide at the unprecedented rate of more than 20 each day. It turns out that male veterans kill themselves twice as often as their civilian counterparts and female veterans are three times more likely to commit suicide than civilian women. The article points out that even the doctors trained to psychologically soothe the mental stress of the combat-worn sometimes commit suicide.

I have explained here how to reduce military suicides. Briefly, bring the troops home and stop sending them to fight unjust wars.
