Lew, it so frustratingly annoying that the state claims to be able to arbitrarily determine the perfect solution for security. In the case you mention, the cops have decided to go door to door to see if people might *GASP* be armed. The almighty government has decided that people are better off trusting the police than having illegal guns. It is, after all, For Your Own Good to be disarmed. One must trust the police in all instances.
Gun freedom? No. Raped women, dead children and defenseless old ladies? Yes.
