If the government “loves” us enough, will the Catholic Church applaud socialism because it isn’t “Marxist” any more? My old friend Tom sends along this observation:
“Jimmy Carter, circa 1976, pledged a ‘government as full of love as the American people.’ Four years later the American people decided against a loving government and just wanted less government.”
