A great man has passed. Alan Stang died on July 19 at the age of 80 (WorldNetDaily reports that he was 77). I started corresponding with Mr. Stang about 10 years ago, after I was thrilled to get a letter from him containing positive comments about my LewRockwell.com articles. I was still new at the writing thing, so I remember vividly how much it made my day to receive his email.

I most recently corresponded with him about 3-4 weeks ago when I wanted to convey to him how much I enjoyed his recent columns on yankee genocide and General Sherman. Just look at how prolific he has been since January 1st of this year.

He was also a prolific author, and my favorite was his great work, The Actor: The True Story of John Foster Dulles, Secretary of State, 1953-1959, a book I found at a used bookstore many years ago. That book was my introduction to Mr. Stang. He was such a great writer and I’d like to think he was one of many writers who helped to influence my style and presentation.

Mr. Stang had immense knowledge of history and issues, which was conveyed in his feisty, eclectic writings. His passing will surely leave a void in the fight against the totalitarian state.
